Logan got out of the limo before me and did the polite thing to hand me out. The paving stones were cool underneath my stockinged feet, but I could deal with that better than the heels, so I carried my shoes. There was enough alcohol in my system to give me a pleasant buzz without throwing me off balance. A gentle spring breeze kicked up to bring me the mellowing scents of the garden.

“Good night, gentlemen.” I smiled for our driver, then minced over to the smooth marble of the steps leading to the front door. I was halfway up before the engine revved and the limo headed toward the garage. Yeah, it was ours. Crazy, I know, but so much easier than renting, given how often we needed one these days.

I turned to face Logan when I heard footsteps following me. “Where are you going?” His car was parked in the little nook over to our left.

He kept his hands in his pockets, cutting a rather rakish figure in the soft porch light. With his jacket tucked back behind his wrists and the soft moonlight streaming down on him, he could have been in a photo shoot for GQ. “I’m staying here tonight.”

“Oh.”

He raised a brow. “Objections?”

It wasn’t all that odd. The house was ridiculously large, with lots of space even given the dozen or so people who lived there. There were extra bedrooms and a few parlors with perfectly sleep-able couches. There was also a bunkhouse with a bunch more rooms. Logan had stayed over before.

“No.” I turned back to the door to open it. No locks. Not when you had to go through three security gates, at least four different kinds of magical shields, plus a team of patrolling shifters. “Not as long as you checked with Chloe or Deidre first.” My fellow coven members had taken over the house administrative duties, and I was more than happy to leave it in their capable hands.

My back tingled as he followed me into the shadowed hallway. “Deidre’s got my rooms reserved for a long-time stay.”

I stopped again and faced him. “You’re moving in?”

He took a step closer, bringing him within arm’s distance. “Would that bother you?” Continue reading EXCERPT – Leashed 4: Tangled Leashes

Then the door swung wide open to reveal Tanty in a tiny little purple robe with a hem that barely brushed the tops of her thighs. The robe gaped in a deep V in the front that revealed the inner curves of both breasts and a sweet swath of flat belly. “Hi!”

He was toast.

Casually, she reached up to tuck abundant tangerine hair behind her ear as she toyed with her sash with the other hand. Gorgeous, dark blue almost-purple eyes blinked happily at him. “You are a saint for doing this.”

Bok had never felt less saintly in his life. “Uh, yeah.” Continue reading EXCERPT – Toys for Good Girls

Nick and Marlowe aren’t like my other rockers. Not really. A little grittier. This series doesn’t gloss over the presence of drugs in the world of rock and roll.

Don’t let the mention of girls at the beginning of the excerpt fool you. Both Marlowe and Nick are bisexual — Marlowe knowingly, Nick is the gay-for-you — but all the sex in the book is m/m.

BLURB

Sex. Drugs. Rock ‘n Roll. Nick Gorman’s got it all. He’s on top of the world, living his dream, playing guitar on stage in front of thousands of people with non-other than Marlowe. The famous singer could have had his choice of anyone to replace his former guitarist, but he picked Nick to tour with him. Now Nick’s star is on the rise, all thanks to Marlowe, who’s not only Nick’s idol but is fast becoming a terrific friend.

In the blink of an eye, it all turns upside down. A drug-hazed time in a bed alone with Marlowe forces Nick to be aware that the rock star’s interest in him is more than just friendly. Then, before he can even react to that, both singer and guitarist are in a near-fatal accident that could ruin both their careers.

What now? Marlowe’s in jail for two years and Nick is broken. Could they ever play together again, let alone explore the sizzling reverberations that still exist between them?

Dance music filled Nick’s head, guiding the throb of his heart. His skin was alive, the merest brush of a breeze was like someone was licking his dick. Nick didn’t usually dance but the drugs in his system had him gyrating and twisting with dozens of other bodies underneath the streaks of a portable strobe light. Maybe he wasn’t so much dancing as just moving to the beat. That he could do. The very ground was pushing at the soles of his feet, making him move. He wasn’t quite sure what to do with his hands but a few willing girls were happy to give him nice handholds. In turn, they ran soft hands and curious fingers over his bare back and arms, some taking a bit more advantage to cup his ass or slide around front to brush the bulge of his half hard cock through his jeans. Gloriously free, Nick closed his eyes, twisted, turned then buried his face in a fragrant neck as his senses expanded beyond any scope of reality. Continue reading EXCERPT – Reverb

Carson’s quiet sobbing filled the early morning air. Heedless of the expensive red Chinese silk of his robe, he sat on the dusty floor of his balcony, back wedged against the stucco wall, shoulder against the sturdy wooden posts of the railing. Dawn had just broken over the roof of the apartments across the courtyard from his, washing his haven in weak golden light. Summer was on the wane, and fall had taken root, turning the leaves of some of the trees that shaded him from green to dusky brown. Hugging his folded legs, he rested his forehead on his knees and gave in to the misery that was his life.

“You better think hard, baby.” Anthony’s cruel tone echoed in his head. “You go on and see how far you get without me.”

Despite his anger, Carson knew the answer to that — he wouldn’t get very far without Anthony to support him. His job with the burlesque show would barely cover the rent on his apartment and utilities. He’d become far too accustomed to relying on Anthony for all the little extras like clothing, entertainment, and food. For a glorious six months, Anthony had taken care of him. He knew that. Silly him to think that since the man had done so thus far, he’d want to do so on a more permanent basis. He’d thought that moving in together and becoming a real couple was the next step.

Boy, had he been wrong. Continue reading EXCERPT – A Rose is a Rose

There was a subdued pop far overhead. One moment there was only the pale sliver of moon and stars twinkling in the blanket of midnight sky. Then, from a faint sparkling of a cloud that wasn’t a cloud, emerged the silhouette of a sleigh pulled by nine reindeer.

“Here they come.” Pol pointed needlessly. They all knew what was there.

Lon watched with the rest of the handlers, captivated by the sight regardless of having seen it nightly over the past few months. At first, the sleigh and its chargers looked like little flying dolls, coasting shapes against the stars. Then they became more distinct as they neared. Reindeer galloping on air. The magical sleigh seemed weightless behind them. Even closer and the soft trill of jingle bells filled the air.

“Welcome home,” one of the handlers behind Lon and Pol murmured. Continue reading EXCERPT – Reindeer Games

ANTHOLOGY BLURB

The wrath of a woman scorned is bad, but a witch’s wrath is hell on earth. No one knows this better than the six men of Shifting Sands Ranch. When the owner’s witch of a wife flees the ranch, she takes with her one of the cowboys and leaves behind a curse that dooms the remaining inhabitants to a life that is anything but normal. Now, every month when the moon comes full, each man takes on the form of an animal.

Witches, shifters and ancient curses, such is life on the Shifting Sands.

STORY BLURB

Daniel’s watched the other men who live on his ranch find their lifemates one by one. He’s watched them all fall prey to the curse of the Shifting Sands. His curse. His fault. When it’s suggested that maybe the curse will break once all the men of the Sands find their mates, Daniel — as the only one left — knows that it’s time to acknowledge what he’s known all along.

Russell’s been in love with Daniel as long as he can remember. So why did he run off with Daniel’s wife? She’s a witch, that’s why! Of course, now that it’s happened, how can he explain himself and hope to be believed?

Daniel parked on the street not far from the main entrance of the small apartment complex. Although he knew the address well, he’d never been there before. Never been to Barston. But Russell was nearby. He could feel it.

Shutting off the truck, Daniel remained seated for a few moments, staring at his hands, waiting for the claws and the iridescent green and blue scales to retreat. Being so far away from the Sands was more unsettling than he’d thought. The farther he drove from his home base, the more the beast wanted to come out. He’d finally allowed the claws and the scales to remain, that little bit seeming to satisfy the dragon for a little while. But he was having a devil of a time keeping his eyes human. His sight kept slipping into that strange shape-sensory sight of the beast rather than normal vision. Not the easiest to drive with since the beast wasn’t great at seeing electrical stuff, like traffic lights.

“Damn!” it wasn’t working. The black claws and shining scales were still there although the shape of his hands remained mostly human. A weird afterimage to his sight told him that his eyes were half gone. Was this because he was so far from the Sands or was it because he was near Russell? Did it have anything to do with a nagging feeling that he had to get out of the truck now?

No help for it. Carefully tugging the cuffs of his flannel shirt as far over his hands as possible, he grabbed his hat and got out of the truck. Luckily, it was a dark night so he might be able to go undetected, at least to Russell’s apartment. He’d have to tackle the problem of what to do in the morning, when and if that trouble came.

Something was wrong. The feeling only increased. A definite pull guided him down the street away from the front door of the apartment complex. He shoved his hat onto his head and scowled at the door. That was where he wanted to go. But there was no denying the beast’s instincts when they were like this and the beast wanted to go down the street. Daniel jumped from the truck, hoping he’d parked in a parking zone, barely remembering to push the button on the key fob that’d lock the door. He forced himself to walk, although at a fast clip, toward the source of anxiety. Continue reading EXCERPT: Pulling the Dragon’s Tail from Shifting Sands anthology

He followed Izzy up the porch and into the darkened house but felt oddly reluctant to head to his room. He’d been having a good time with Izzy.

“Want a snack?” Izzy stood, just a silhouette in the entrance to the kitchen, backlit by the moonlight from the bay window.

Given an excuse, Rabin decided it was just that. “Nah. I think I’m just going to head on up to bed.” Bed. The word had a charge to it that made him look away. Even if he was feeling attraction — and that’s probably what it was, strangely enough — he wasn’t going to do anything about it. It was a weird night. One that should end before anything happened. “’Night.”

“’Night.” Continue reading EXCERPT: Indigo Knights: Squire

When Rabin finally found the gate with the number Brent had given him, he was fairly bouncing with excitement. This place was fucking unreal. He leaned out his window to press a button on a pad mounted in front of the gate.

“Hey, Rabin.” Brent’s voice was crystal clear.

“How’d you know it’s me?” Continue reading Sneak peek: Indigo Knights: Squire

EXCERPT – Bye Bye Skyler (AMP)

This title is no longer available .

Skyler has the dubious honor of being my only fully heterosexual main hero to date. I like him anyway.

BLURB:

Ann has safely put Skyler and her juvenile feelings for him behind her. She’d been mad about him in high school but they’d never been more than friends. Then he left early graduation and never looked back.

Eleven years later, Skyler shows up and proves that she’s never gotten out of her system, no matter how much she’s tried. He’s only in town for a short time, but he makes it plain that he’d like to see her during that time.

Can Ann take advantage of the opportunity and experience what she missed in high school without losing her heart to a man who has no intention of sticking around?

Subtly, she drifted farther from him, losing his hand. “But since…?” Gram had been sure to fill her in about his travels of the past few years. He’d been around the world, drinking in every experience he could, while he could. Continue reading EXCERPT – Bye Bye Skyler (AMP)

The powers that be at MLR Press asked for it and I, weak as I am, agreed to do a sequel to About Something.

BLURB:

Turns out life as a drag queen isn’t what Shawn thought it would be. He loves the costumes and dressing up, but he’s found he’s better suited to performing from a script than vamping onstage. Too bad Shawn figured this out long after breaking up with Roscoe when his bossy director boyfriend told him he didn’t have what it would take.

Two years later, Shawn may not be wildly happy but he’s content. That is until Roscoe shows up to ask him to reprise his role as Beatrice in Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing. Roscoe is as magnetic as he’s always been and the spark between them is still burning bright.

When Roscoe turns on the charm for a more personal reunion, can Shawn resist? Does he even want to?

Roscoe folded his forearms on the bar before him, one of his elbows brushing Shawn’s. “It’s a paying gig. Equity. You could get your card.”

“Aha.” Shawn took a sip of his drink, keeping his eyes on the bar. “I get it.”

“Get what?”

“Why are you showing up, out of the blue, with an offer?”

Some of their audience had drifted away, but Shawn had no doubt those who remained would spread the word.

Didn’t seem like Roscoe cared who heard. “I told you. I need you. Play’s not the same without you.”

“Why that play?”

“I like that play.”

“You going to call Bonnie in California to come play Benedick?”

When there was no answer, he slanted his gaze at the other man.

Roscoe stared at the array of bottles on the mirrored wall behind the bar. He shook his head, not smiling now. “No.”

“What? You don’t think she did great?”

“I do, and you know it.”

“Right.” He took a healthy drink then carefully set his glass down. “But you weren’t sleeping with her.”

Ever aware of his performance, on and off stage, Roscoe gave it a beat, turned to face Shawn then sat back, putting some distance between them. “My offer is sincere, regardless of our past.”

“I’m sure the offer’s sincere. But it doesn’t make anything that happened between us right.” Continue reading EXCERPT – Much Ado from the Encore! Encore! anthology
